History of the Department
The origin of the Department of Archaeology in Yadanabon University started in the academic year 2000. Rector U Win Mg and Pro-Rector U Than Nwe were behind the establishment of the Department. The Department of Archaeology offers BA, BA (Hons) and MA in Archaeology.
Vision
- To be a Department that provides education and training at contemporary archaeology standards, can use theorectical and practical knowledge, and contribute to the protection of cultural heritage.
Mission
- To educate students who have the knowledge, experience and heritage of archaeology, and sustain effectively by using technologies in the fields of human, society and cultural heritage professionally.

Curriculum
BA in Archaeology
BA (Honours) in Archaeology
Students who passed second year with GPA greater than 4 are eligible to attend BA (Honours) classes for three more years. After finished successfully, they are earned BA (Hons) degree majoring in Archaeology.
MA in Archaeology
After finished first year Master, they do research in second year Master. And then they are earned MA degree in Archaeology.
Descriptions Modules Offered
The purpose of this modules are to enable students to understand with the basic theories of Archaeology.
Students enable to analysis by studying the Prehistoric, Protohistoric and Historical Archaeology.
Set up the methods to explore, excavate, interpret and make research.
These modules are designed to introduce Hindu Art and Architecture concerned with Myanmar Temples and Stupas.
Introduction the making stone tools technology found in the ancient sites.
This module is designed by following second year course of Hindu Art and Architecture which can be compared with concept of Buddhism.
Old World is worth for studying archaeology and its beginning in which many archaeological events were occurred.
To introduce Southeast Asian archaeology and their sites is designed for this module.
